- ★ ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆The Honda main dealer advised me to take my 6 month old Honda Izzy to George Carrs to be repaired under warranty. I phoned GC and was told that this was a common problem on this make and would probably need to change the carb for a 100% fix. I left my mower with them and showed all the relevant warranty paperwork. After a few weeks I heard nothing from them so I phoned and was told my machine was ready. When I arrived to collect the machine I was told abruptly that there was no mention of a warranty on their paperwork and I would have to pay £40 for the repair (clean pipes and carb) which was not covered by the warranty anyway as it was caused by ‘contaminated fuel’.
I have been using these machines for over 50 years and have never had issues with ‘contaminated fuel as I follow all the manufacturers instructions to the letter. I do not keep fuel in a rusty metal can or use last seasons fuel as was suggested. I had no choice but to pay the bill but feel that I’ve been mugged and will not use this shop again.
